You Can’t Grow Up Until You Finish Childhood
Many of us have tucked away childhood trauma, not wanting or intending to address the multitude of ways it affects our lives. For example if a parent dies in early childhood, you likely have abandonment issues. If you were sexually abused as a child, you might have sexual issues, self-esteem problems, and trust issues. If you grew up with a mentally ill or invasive parent, you might have problems with boundaries. The list is endless.
EMDR is a gentle and effective tool to address childhood trauma, and you can move at your own pace. You don’t have to jump into the most painful trauma until you are ready. Often clients start with troubling current issues in relationship or at work, and bring in childhood trauma as they are ready. There is always the option to contain issues which are too big for the moment, and come back to it as you are ready. You are in charge, with the therapist's support and containment.
When one chooses to work with childhood trauma, it creates movement and freedom in your adult life, and gives you a deep understanding of self.
